This amendment, titled the “Polyethylene Material for Moulding and Extrusion (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024,” will be effective upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
The original Polyethylene Material for Moulding and Extrusion (Quality Control) Order, 2022, pertains to Polyethylene Materials utilized in moulding and extrusion processes, encompassing Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), excluding goods intended for export.
In addition to the existing regulations, a new provision is introduced. The amendment specifies that certain classes of polyethylene material for moulding and extrusion are exempted from the Order. These classes include:
Low Density Polyethylene Extrusion (LDPE) Coating;
Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) Film Grades (Blown/ Cast) or Pharma;
Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) Butene Grades;
Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) Hexene/ Octene Grades;
Metallocene Polyethylene Grades;
Base Resins of Power Cable, Jacketing, and other applications;
Compounds for Cable Jacketing/ Sheathing/ Polyethylene-80 and Polyethylene-100 (Black and Pigmented)/ Reinforcement Fillers.
For all other applicable polyethylene materials, adherence to Indian Standard IS 7328:2020 and the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards remains mandatory.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has enacted a Quality Control Order titled the “Laboratory Glassware (Quality Control) Order, 2023.”
This order takes effect six months from its publication in the Official Gazette. Goods or articles falling under the category of Laboratory Glassware are required to comply with the corresponding Indian Standard 878:2008 (Laboratory glassware – Graduated measuring cylinders) and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as outlined in Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Certain exemptions are outlined in the order. It does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.
Furthermore, for micro-enterprises and small enterprises, as defined in clauses (h) and (m) respectively of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the order comes into force twelve months and nine months from the date of publication, respectively.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for goods or articles falling under the category of Laboratory Glassware.
